1. Not Medical Advice

Help Ladder is a self-help tool — not a medical device, not a therapist, and not a substitute for professional care. It is designed to help you build and track a personal exposure hierarchy at your own pace. It does not provide:

• Mental health diagnosis or assessment
• Medical advice, treatment, or therapy
• Clinical supervision or professional guidance
• Crisis intervention or emergency response

Exposure therapy techniques can temporarily increase anxiety. If you feel overwhelmed, stop immediately and speak with a licensed mental health professional.

2. No Therapist-Client Relationship

Use of Help Ladder does not create a therapist-client, doctor-patient, or any other professional relationship between you and Help Ladder, its creators, or its affiliates. No privileged communication is established. No information you enter into the app is reviewed by a licensed professional unless you choose to share it with one yourself.

3. Assumption of Risk

By using Help Ladder, you acknowledge and agree that:

• You are voluntarily engaging in self-guided exposure exercises
• These exercises involve confronting feared situations which may cause temporary distress
• You are solely responsible for deciding which rungs to attempt and when to stop
• You assume all risks — physical, psychological, and emotional — associated with your use of the app

4. Age Restriction

Help Ladder is intended for users 18 years of age or older. If you are under 18, do not use this application without the supervision and consent of a parent or guardian. Exposure therapy techniques should only be attempted by minors under the guidance of a licensed professional.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Help Ladder, its creators, and its affiliates shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of — or inability to use — this application. This includes, without limitation, damages for emotional distress, anxiety, psychological harm, or any other personal injury, whether based in contract, tort, negligence, strict liability, or otherwise — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. If these laws apply to you, some or all of the above exclusions may not apply.

6. No Warranty

Help Ladder is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied — including, but not limited to, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defects will be corrected.

7. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Help Ladder shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Massachusetts.

8. Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of Help Ladder after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
